Who
I am Lisa Messina (she/her), founder of The Messina Movement and creator of The Process. I am a somatic (body-based) and relational therapy practitioner, a trauma recovery coach, educator, group facilitator, yoga and pilates teacher, and mobility specialist. I have over a decade of training and experience in somatic therapy and over two decades of training in a variety of movement modalities — learn more about my unique journey here. I believe restoring balance means recognizing and addressing every aspect of who we are, while remaining aware that each aspect is always informing one another - as they are actually one.
What
I combine my studies in holistic movement modalities and somatic relational psychology to offer a whole-being approach to reclaiming YOU. My whole-person approach supports individuals, couples, and groups to restore physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and relational well-being. I help people break free from unsustainable, stressful patterns, and guide them to discover more sustainable and authentic connection with themselves, others, and the world. Wholeness is innate, and the return back to embodied wholeness is possible for everyone.
How
My approach is anchored in safety, as I believe safety is required to engage in the process of healing. Together, we'll address dysregulation, anxiety, depression, addiction, habit patterns, and survival strategies - we will uncover the parts of you that have been waiting for healing and integration. Through education, practices, and processes like movement, meditation, nervous system regulation, and somatic trauma therapy, I empower you to enhance your overall quality and experience of life. You will receive the tools to continue on your journey with greater awareness, reliable resources, expanded capacity, understanding, and compassion; embodying the truth of who you are.
Why
When our trauma and survival patterns are in the driver's seat, we are disconnected from the fullness of ourselves and of our lives; and we may miss the opportunity to live the lives we hope for, want, and deserve. Our histories shape us, trauma happens, and through embodiment practices that enhance awareness, attunement, and understanding, healing is possible. With the right support and guidance, we can move from a place of protection to connection, from contraction to expansion, which grants us access to the true essence of ourselves, others, and the world. Reconnecting to our wholeness expands our capacity and ignites inspiration to support others in reconnecting to their wholeness, which contributes to relational and collective healing.
